I LOVE spending hours and hours on Pinterest. I have hundreds of things pinned and I finally decided that it was time to start doing them. I have quite the collection of objects to be finished. It doesn't help that DH sent me to Good Will to buy a picture he'd seen there and I ended up spending $35. But hey. That's life! It was a good day at Good Will yesterday! :) These items were enough to give me the inspiration to start. That and the fact the Christmas AND Halloween decorations are finally out of my garage!
I found this ugly wooden bowl at Good Will. It was a cute shape, but it was stained an ugly brown and most of the stain inside the bowl had worn away. I bought it anyway. Here is what it looks like primed white. I didn't take a before picture because I really didn't think I'd be blogging about it. After all,the internet is full of DIY bloggers out there, But here I am... That'll teach me. I will have to take before pictures of everything from now on!
For whatever reason, this little bowl was calling out to me to paint it yellow. I don't know why, my kitchen is dark purple and white, but it wanted yellow. Since I had leftover yellow paint from another project, I decided to listen to it and paint it yellow.
This picture is after one coat of paint.
Here it is after it was glazed. I used burnt umber mixed with a little glazing medium. I don't really know the exact ratio, but it was something like 3 parts glazing medium to 1 part paint. I then used a baby wipe to wipe the glaze off. The one thing I need to remember is to wear gloves. But I really hate working while wearing gloves.
And another view. This was the first item that I ever used an antique glaze on. I have to say I was really pleased with the results!
I am ready to do more! Stay tuned! :)
